Avon Walk For Breast Cancer

Kathy, who goes by mtngrl on the Backpacker.com forums is a breast cancer survivor. She will be doing the 3 day walk this summer and is rasising contributions for her walk.

"Hi, mtngrl here,

Those of you, who were around here in 2003, know I fought the breast cancer battle through that year.  Now I am a 4-year survivor! Wooohooo!!  Back then, I felt the support of each of you who were here, I was never alone in that fight.  Remember how we fought my “boob cooties” with humor, through the chemo, radiation and double-mastectomy?  (bye-bye boobs, ta-ta titties, goodbye gabongos, etc.), but there was always the undercurrent of how serious cancer is.  I see the supportive spirit still lives on here, for those of you who are fighting your own battles and friends we have lost.

This summer I will be walking the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.  I will be walking the distance of a complete marathon (26.2 miles) on day one, and 13.1 miles on day two.  

To participate in this event, every walker must raise a minimum of $1,800, and for that, I need your help.  Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to this cause.  You can make a donation directly online with a credit card by visiting my “Personal Page” at the Avon Walk website at avonwalk.org (just click on “Make a Donation” and follow the easy instructions).  If you prefer to write a check, just contact me (kathy_pika at hotmail dot com) and I will do all the paperwork for you. The more money I raise to fund a fight against this disease the sooner a cure will be found!  The sooner we will be rid of it!
