What are Trail Divas?
Maybe you have been this way your whole life. Maybe you were active when young and listened too much to others and quit when you got married and had kids. Maybe it just hit you one day when you neared 30 or 50. Maybe you are 18 and have been told by every male you know that the woods are no place for women. Maybe one day you looked up and saw a snow covered mountain and wanted to be there.
One day you knew that to be happy, you had to be outside.
Trying to balance your reality with your needs. Taking care of your family. And maybe a job. And trying not to feel guilty over your desires. Maybe you have never hiked. Or maybe you have hiked 1,000's of miles.
Our goal is to share knowledge so that you can be out there, being the Trail Diva you deserve to be. We are building this site to help other women have the confidence to be outside. It can be confusing getting into hiking and backpacking. Many books, websites and gear are aimed at men, with women getting the dregs. Yet, out on the trails, women are becoming stronger in numbers every year. We want to show other women that you can love the dirt, find some peace and maybe, just maybe get your kids out there with you.
We hope to show how you can attain a lightweight philosophy, get out more, and feel safe while on the trail.

REI Alpine Pants Review
I desperately needed new pants before a trip this past fall. I hadn't had a decent pair of rain pants in a couple years, and I really didn't want to hike in my back up rain pants - a pair of Frog Toggs (which work but are really, really ugly and sound like a trash bag is walking with you).

Karen Edmundson Bean is a director/cinematographer who has filmed and produced a number of DVD's on the PNW here in Washington State. I am looking forward to seeing the Alpine Lakes DVD which covers a section I hiked in 2006.
